Fresh Content Types Every Marketer Should

By Irina Weber  November 23, 2021

Like content, content types can also go stale – or at least become less tasty to consume.

Now that you’ve weathered 2021, it’s time to look into 2022 with fresh eyes. These eight formats can help attract and engage your audience members who prefer visuals over text-dominated content.

2022 is the time to put fresh eyes on your #content types if you want to keep or attract an audience, says @irinaweber048 via @CMIContent. Click To Tweet

1. Guestographics

A guestographic is a guest infographic. It features both images and text and is published on or linked to from different websites. Guestographics are often created in collaboration with other brands for a specific purpose.

It can be their content and your design or your content and their design. This example published by Venngage includes its infographic design with Mention-provided data on sentiment on social media:

It is an effective way to build brand (or content) awareness and establish stable connections. For the publishing site, it also can produce quality backlinks to help its SEO strategy.

You can also use the guestographic concept by publishing an infographic on your site and creating guest content that includes a link to it for another site.

Among the available tools to create a unique guestographic design is VistaCreate, with over 30 customizable templates from Crello.

2. Instructographics

You may have guessed from the name that instructographics is a long-forgotten child of infographics. They are becoming a popular way to explain complex data in an easy-to-digest format.

Instructographics tell people how to do something. For example, here is how the instructographic on how to turn plain white cups into funny mustache cups:

Instructographics work well for step-by-step instructions or other how-to guides but are only limited by your creativity. The best thing about them is the higher potential for sharing the content.

3. Storyboards

Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese once said, “Storyboards are not the only means of communication for what I imagine, but they are the point where I begin.” Today, a storyboard can be the content product, not just a tool used in production.

Click To TweetStoryboards are a visual sequence of useful information such as text, images, design, and illustrations. It allows the viewer to visualize the whole story frame by frame.

Creating a storyboard is a good way to organize any type of information that needs a systematic approach, such as this example for ideas that bring storyboard success:

A storyboard could be used to tell a standalone story or to complement a text-based version.

4. Carousel posts

Carousel posts on social media are becoming a more attractive content type for marketers. On Instagram, they earn higher average engagement rates (1.92%) than single photos (1.74%) and videos (1.45%). Creators who used all 10 carousel slides available experienced average engagement rates as high as 2%.

Popular on Instagram and LinkedIn, this content format also is available on Facebook. Here are some how-to specifics:

  • LinkedIn: Create carousel images in a PDF format and upload the file to the platform.
  • Instagram: Choose and upload different images and/or videos. Make sure to upload them in the right order. To increase engagement, tell people to “swipe left” on carousels with messages.
  • Facebook: Carousels (or slide shows) are available on your page’s cover image or as an individual post. Click on the photo/video option and upload your images or video in sequential order.

5. Whiteboard videos

Artists, graphic designers, or people good with a marker draw on a whiteboard to successfully explain a point, process, or product in a visually attractive way. As they create, the video camera is tracking their every move.

Some companies use this type of content for corporate video training because they can have a stronger impact than reading a handbook or watching someone read from a script. But you don’t have to limit it to training videos. Whiteboard content can work for almost anything that can be illustrated. Most importantly, they create a curiosity factor as viewers wait to see how the rest of the story comes together (even when they already know the story.)

You don’t need to have special skills to create whiteboard videos, just a little bit of practice, some imagination, and inspiration to explore the topic well. A lot of great tools, such as VideoScribe and Mango Animate, can help you create this kind of video content.

Austria Freak-out: Lockdown EVERYTHING! “Unvaccinated” Africa Still Not Impacted

By Tyler Durden

Just a day after announcing that the unvaccinated would lose all basic human rights, the Austrian government took it a stage further and ruled that the entire country would lose its basic human rights.

Back to a nationwide lockdown to control a covid outbreak that was not controlled last time by a nationwide lockdown. Make sense? Also…as the AP reports, experts are “baffled” that in unvaccinated Africa, where there have been no lockdowns, there are very few covid cases and deaths are a tiny fraction of those in Europe and the US per capita. Watch the latest Ron Paul Liberty Report

The Associated Press observed in a Friday report:

“When the coronavirus first emerged last year, health officials feared the pandemic would sweep across Africa, killing millions. Although it’s still unclear what COVID-19’s ultimate toll will be, that catastrophic scenario has yet to materialize in Zimbabwe or much of the continent.”

The AP admits that the case of Africa is too significant to ignore, noting the fact that it by and large managed to escape seeing a deep impact by the pandemic, leaving scientists and health experts baffled:

But there is something “mysterious” going on in Africa that is puzzling scientists, said Wafaa El-Sadr, chair of global health at Columbia University. “Africa doesn’t have the vaccines and the resources to fight COVID-19 that they have in Europe and the U.S., but somehow they seem to be doing better,” she said.

Fewer than 6% of people in Africa are vaccinated. For months, the WHO has described Africa as “one of the least affected regions in the world” in its weekly pandemic reports.

And as many “skeptics” of the official narrative in the West have long pointed out, young people have been shown to be at much less risk – additionally sunshine and Vitamin D helps.

Now more than a year-and-a-half into the global pandemic, the mainstream media AP report admits the following:

“Some researchers say the continent’s younger population — the average age is 20 versus about 43 in Western Europe — in addition to their lower rates of urbanization and tendency to spend time outdoors, may have spared it the more lethal effects of the virus so far. Several studies are probing whether there might be other explanations, including genetic reasons or past infection with parasitic diseases.”

With this admission in mind, recall that especially within the first half-year of the pandemic there were scenes in the West of police literally chasing people from public beaches amid “lockdowns” – as well as parents being arrested at public parks for letting their children play outdoors at the public open-air venues.

Anarchy Reigns In Nigeria: The World Looks Away

Bandits kill Hamidu, former governorship aspirant in Zamfara state, North West Nigeria, President Buhari’s home region.

The bandits abducted many other travellers during the attack which occurred around 3.00 pm, broad daylight.

In an interview with journalists on Monday, Muhammad Sirajo Hamidu, brother of the slain politician, revealed how he was killed.

He said, “My brother, his orderly with two other persons alongside his driver, were travelling to Abuja for an urgent issue. They were ambushed by bandits along Rijana, Kaduna-Abuja expressway in broad daylight.

“When the driver discovered they were bandits and not security operatives, because they all wore army uniform, the driver made a U-turn. Unknown to him, he was already in the midst of kidnappers who had already positioned themselves along the road. They opened fire on the occupants of the vehicle. My brother was shot on the chest and leg. His driver disappeared unhurt.”

Officials Identify Suspect in Wisconsin Parade Killings as Darrell Brooks

By Jack Phillips November 22, 2021

Officials confirmed that Darrel E. Brooks, 39, was the alleged driver of an SUV that ran over dozens of people, killing five, during a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday evening.

Waukesha Polie Chief Daniel Thompson said Brooks was charged with five counts of intentional homicide. Other charges against the suspect are being considered, he said in a 2 p.m. news conference, adding that the incident was “not a terrorist event.”

Brooks was involved in a “domestic incident” prior to the mass casualty incident, Thompson said, adding there was no police pursuit before he allegedly plowed into the parade. Several mainstream media outlets, citing unnamed sources, claimed there had been.

“We are confident he acted alone,” Thompson also said.

In the incident, five people died and more than 40 were injured, Thompson confirmed earlier Monday. At least 18 children were taken to Children’s Wisconsin hospital in Milwaukee, it said in a statement.

A search of online court records showed a recent open case involving a person named Darrell Brooks, with a birth date that would make him 39 years old. According to the court documents, he is charged with restricting or obstructing an officer, bail jumping, and battery. A $1,000 cash bond was posted earlier this month, the records show.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office released a statement on Monday detailing the pending charges against Brooks and said it was conducting an internal review of the decision involving Brook’s bail recommendation.

“The state’s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the recent charges and the pending charges against Mr. Brooks,” read the statement, which made no reference of the parade tragedy.

Brooks was also reportedly an aspiring rapper, known as “Mathboi Fly,” releasing several songs on YouTube. According to a Twitter page associated with Mathboi Fly, it included photos of a man who strongly resembled Brooks, and a bio for the Twitter page says he is a Milwaukee-based “born and raised” rapper.

Brooks was charged in nearby Milwaukee County on Nov. 5 with two felonies and three misdemeanors in a domestic violence incident in which he allegedly violently resisted a police officer, according to court records. He was also charged with bail jumping, the records show.

About a week later, Brooks posted a $500 cash bond and was released from custody. Other court records suggest his criminal history stretches back to at least 1999.

Brooks in July 2020 was charged with two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and recklessly endangering safety through the use of a dangerous weapon. In February 2021, his bond was lowered to $500, and he posted it weeks later, the records show.

Videos posted online on Sunday showed a red SUV racing alongside and into the parade, appearing to run over more than a dozen people before crowds ran from sidewalks to help.
